Red October: Exploring the Phillies Postseason Prop Bets
By Joe Tansey
Published:
We won’t know the Phillies’ NLDS opponent until at least Wednesday night.
However, there are plenty of prop bets already available ahead of Game 1 on Saturday.
For example, ESPN Bet has the number of playoff wins listed for every postseason participant.
The Phillies are even-money to record three playoff wins, which right now is probably a better price than you’ll get for them to win the NLDS. I’d expect the series price to be somewhere around -120/-130 if they play the Dodgers because of the home-field advantage. The series price would be astronomical if the Reds come back from 0-1 down over the next two days.
There’s an option to ladder the postseason wins at ESPN Bet from 4 (+110) all the way up to 10 (+360). The Phillies are +450 to win the World Series at ESPN Bet, which would require 11 victories.
Elsewhere on PA and NJ betting apps, a handful of playoff leader player props are open at bet365.
Trea Turner is +1100 and Bryce Harper is +2500 to record the most postseason hits. Obviously, any Phillies player, or one on the top two seeds in each league, start at a disadvantage when it comes to any playoff leader props.
I would closely monitor all of those markets between Thursday and Saturday. There’s no need to bet on Turner, Harper, or anyone else now because the wild-card participants are going to build more of a lead. There’s a chance those odds go up a bit because of what a team like the Dodgers could do in the remaining wild-card games.
The same goes for Cristopher Sanchez at +2200 to record the most playoff strikeouts. Tarik Skubal and Garrett Crochet set the bar high with their performances in Tuesday’s wild-card openers. Again, I’d wait until after Thursday to fully assess these markets, but it’s something worth keeping an eye on.
If the Phillies make a deep postseason run, as we all expect, a lot of the postseason leader props are attainable and sit at some great value. For now, I’d at least attack the postseason wins mark because it’s even-money just for them to win one series.
