Former Phillie and dugout beer loving Nick Castellanos hasn’t yet remembered how to hit in San Diego (.188, 0 HR, 3 hits in 16 at bats on the year) but at least he can point to a home run in the real estate market.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reported over the weekend that the Castellanos family sold their home in Moorestown for $4.89 million, up from the $4.55 million the family purchased it for in 2022, making it the highest home sale in the South Jersey township in the last decade.

The Old Castellanos Place (some say it’s cursed) was of course also previously owned by 76ers legend Ben Simmons. Castellanos? Simmons? Not exactly a murderers row of beloved Philadelphia athletes. Seems to me that anyone looking to make a name for themselves in this city should probably steer clear.

Unfortunately, doesn’t seem like the teams have yet gotten the memo on the bad juju that evidently roams the halls of the 10,000-square-foot luxury home. Ryan Mulligan of the Philadelphia Business Journal revealed Half Dozen LLC purchased the property, leaving the identity of the individual who will actually be living in the residence a mystery.

However, the new owner is likely an athlete. FUCK.

There was a process of due diligence to ensure that the offer wasn’t fraudulent, as could be the case with an LLC. The property ultimately went under contract in late February, with the sale mainly done through third parties, according to Moriuchi.

“We actually don’t know for certain who the person that bought it was, so there’s still this mystery around who is this buyer,” Moriuchi said, adding that “we do think that it is another athlete.”

Dear GOD NO. If it comes out in a few days that VJ Edgecombe, Andrew Painter, Quinyon Mitchell, or Porter Martone purchased a home in the South Jersey area I may lose my shit. Haven’t we learned? Hasn’t ANYONE learned? Something happened at the property that has left it inexorably cursed, doomed to drive once-promising Philadelphia athletes into the depths of worthlessness.

My goodness, at least burn some sage around the halls before moving in. Bring in the tiny lady from Poltergeist, she knew what she was doing. Do SOMETHING to get rid of this evil, to protect the athlete who is going to live in this HELL HOLE.

Tangina Barrons, Philadelphia needs your diminutive but powerful nature now more than ever.

“This house is clear.”
